Design-Lovers Christmas Gift Guide 2021

Not sure where the past 12 months have gone but it's that time of year again! Whether it's an interior-loving friend or someone who just loves great design, here's our round-up of the gifts we'd love to find under our tree this year...

Advent Calendars | £Various

Why wait until Christmas to show someone some love?! There's so many beautiful advent calendars around with everything from beauty to booze inside, giving someone a little treat every day a couple of our favourites are this Soho Home for Cowshed (Limited Edition) and the Hotel Chocolat 'Truffles for Two' (£26) if you fancy sharing your chocolate...or don't say a word and double up every day!

Aside from managing trades, spiralling costs and actually finding the bloody deal in the first place, dry hands and lips are the worst thing about going through a refurb. Aesop hand balm is such a little luxury as part of an evening routine, plus looks great and comes in lovely packaging for gifting. Resurrection Aromatique is our favourite mandarin scent but there's a few to choose from and one tube will last you ages.

Rains is one of our favourite brands (is there anything cooler than Danish style?) but this comes with a very practical edge being totally waterproof so no need to worry about a wet laptop or soggy sarnies on the way to site or a client meeting, plus the slimline design means less aggro on the train...winner. Being biased we would say 'roost green' is the only choice however the taupe and black one is a beauty and the one I personally carry! (brand traitor)

Candles are always a feature on our Christmas wish list and Diptyque never disappoint. Limited edition packaging looks great under the tree and is such a beautiful gift to give or receive whether you go for their classic or festive scents! You also don't have to spend a fortune, M&S do some beautiful candles (Apothecary / Library of Scent ranges are my fave) that smell great and look chic on a shelf for a fraction of the cost.

Although baubles might not be the obvious gifting choice, if you've ever had to fully decorate a tree you'll know how expensive it can get - and you still never have enough! We always take the view that just like a renovation having a few splurge/interesting pieces can elevate the whole project, just like having a few nicer pieces can make your tree sparkle...plus these are great as little gifts for hosts or secret santas - whatever their style!

Blankets & Throws

Home textiles can get really expensive but a blanket or throw can totally change the vibe up in your space, or give a tired sofa a new lease of life for a fraction of the cost... lots of high end and high street options to suit every budget.

Gin Glasses

Nothing says Christmas like getting out the fancy glassware that collects dust all year round. These glasses makes such great gifts teamed with a little miniature and tonic and for £12 you won't feel like you need to save them for best. Hello G&T Friday glow up.

You're either someone who goes all out to get dressed up on Christmas Day or you're a stay-in-the-pjs type of person...I'm most definitely the latter BUT if there's ever an excuse to jazz up your night(/day)wear it's Christmas. Love this print from Hush but there are so many great options out there!

Magazine/Book Subscriptions

The gift that keeps on giving throughout the year, I love the sound of a magazine coming through the letterbox as it means half an hour on the sofa with a cup of tea taking in all that's new in property and interiors! So many are available digitally if you'd prefer but I like to keep mine to cut up for moodboards later or provide inspiration next to my desk. Magazines Direct is usually my go to for a huge range of titles, plus they usually have discounts all year round.

If it's more something to look fancy on the coffee table a beautiful book is always a winner!

Live Beautiful by Athena Calderone and Eat, Drink, Nap from Soho Home are great for interior lovers but there's so many across a huge range of topics there'll be something for every interest

And for the person who literally has everything...

We all have that friend that returns every gift they get, but sometimes a plastic gift card just won't cut it...enter the Liberty gift coin. Looks like such a treat wrapped up under the tree and they're guaranteed to find something they like! You can only spend these instore but they don't have an expiry date so even if you're not London based these are still a great option :)
